M.Sc/PhD's can apply for JRF/Research Associate post at TBGRI, Kerala


Position: Research Associate

Qualification: Ph D in plant - animal interaction with MSc. in Zoology or MSc in
Zoology with Specialisation in plant - animal interaction and minimum 3 years of research experience in plant - animal interaction studies.

Remuneration: 16,000 + 5% HRA (pre revised)

Age: 40 years or below. Relaxation of the age limit will be considered for candidates with outstanding qualifications and experience.


Job Description

* Selected person will be responsible for the overall supervision of the project programmes in the field.
* He/she should be able to manage and guide the project staff in field station at Silent Valley.
* The candidate should be capable of identifying floristic and faunistic components of Silent Valley National Park and should have the capacity to plan and execute the project as per the pert chart programmes.


Position: JRF

Qualification: MSc first class in Wildlife biology/Forestry, Life Science/Botany


Remuneration: 12,000 + 5% HRA for first two years and 14,000 + 5% HRA for third year (pre revised)

Age: 25 years or below
Desirable: NET/GATE

The candidate should be a dynamic field biology enthusiast and should take interest in both plants and animals of the study area.

The work demands strenuous and continuous field work in difficult terrains of tropical evergreen forests of Silent Valley and those who can accomplish this only need to apply. Data derived from the project work can be submitted for higher degrees.

This project is sanctioned to Dr T S Nayar, Head, Division of Conservation Biology. Scientists in Conservation Biology Division are mainly focusing their research activities on plant-animal interactions with emphasis on mutualism to address specific issues in biodiversity conservation. The present project focuses on landscape based mutualistic interaction with animal community in Silent Valley and is sequel to single species based mutualistic interaction studies and ecosystem based mutualistic interaction studies already undertaken by the Division.
